Over the years, I have heard many different meanings and explanations about the Henstock name.
I have heard ‘experts’ with differing opinions. For example, I once heard one ‘expert’ say that the name is essentially the same as the surname Henderson, while another ‘expert’ said that they have totally different roots. Some believe that the origin is German while others very much think that is originated in Derbyshire. I have also heard it said that the ‘stock part of the name refers to ‘of’ or ‘son’ while the main deviance I have seen is that it means a place, like farm, smallholding or animal shelter. What have you heard?
What do you know to be true?
Do you have genuine evidence of your opinion/findings?I created this post with everything that I found. Please take a look and post your comments there.
I would love to get to the bottom of where the name truly originated from.
